Work Experience
Randy spent 12 years as Shop Manager for Wally’s Music in Oregon City, Oregon, where he managed 5 technicians and developed a regional reputation for his expertise in custom brass modifications. He was also responsible for the layout, design and construction of the repair shop. In addition, Randy has consistently serviced numerous school districts in Oregon conducting work estimates and repairs.
Prior to Wally’s he was Shop Manager for 11 years at Tigard Music in Tigard, Oregon where he focused on pro brass and woodwind repairs. Randy also worked at Portman’s Music in Savannah, Georgia and Music West in Belleview, Washington where he designed and constructed a 2400 square foot complete overhaul shop.
Training and Education
Randy has a Certificate in Band Instrument Repair from Redwing Technical College, Redwing Minnesota and served as an apprentice to Sheldon Kanis at Portman’s Music in Savannah, Georgia. He attended the Capitol University Conservatory of Music in Columbus, Ohio and the University of Wisconsin in Music Education and Trumpet Performance in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where he studied with acclaimed performer and educator, Dominic Spera.
